CREW CLOTHING COMMIT TO THE HIGH STREET

December 3, 2020

Crew clothing

Premium British lifestyle brand, CrewClothing, have completed a lease of the former Laura Ashley high street space in Lincoln. The deal was brokered by Ben Taylor of SPACE-Retail Property Consultants, working jointly with James Lutton of Legat Owen.

Since the opening of the brand’s first store in Salcombe the coastal fashion brand has grown to 79 high street stores throughout the UK. Crew Clothing continues to acquire stores nationally, with the latest addition occupying a prominent property in the heritage city of Lincoln. To celebrate the opening of the new store, Crew Clothing will be offering a 30% discount on its Christmas edit as well as a free gift with every purchase over £75.

The letting to Crew Clothing is one of the latest high quality entrants to the city, following Lincoln Coop’s redevelopment of Cornhill Quarter, itself close to Crew’s new addition and a defining factor for the retailer. They join the likes of Hobbs, Whistles, Phase 8, The Botanist, Cosy Club and Everyman Cinema. The new Crew Clothing store is set to bring six new jobs to the city by 2021.

Acting jointly for the Landlord, SPACE and Legat Owen agreed terms with Crew within a few weeks of bringing the 3,333sqft property to the market. No. 310 High Street opened on the 2nd December, as government restrictions are lifted.

Ben Taylor of SPACE – Retail Property Consultants commented:

“The popularity of Lincoln is not surprising, combining world class heritage with a first-class retail offering. Crew join an enviable line-up in the city, made up of both national multiples as well as some great local and regional occupiers. Lincoln’s growing status as a university city combined with its popularity as a tourist hub makes it an attractive prospect for retailers and consumers alike. Both sides acted with a clear objective to get the deal done as quickly as possible, a process which was aided by all the parties involved including Ian Scott International who acted for Crew Clothing.”

March 9, 2020

SPACE – Retail Property Consultants are delighted to announce completion of the unconditional sale of 38-46 Goose Gate Nottingham on Friday on behalf of a family prop-co.  The large mixed-use block is situated in the heart of Nottingham’s Lace Market and represented a rare redevelopment opportunity in one of Nottingham’s most sought after locations in the city centre, having dual access from Goose Gate and Woolpack Lane.  Following a short marketing campaign and receiving multiple unconditional and conditional offers, the property was sold in excess of the £1.25m asking price.  It was also good to work with the purchaser’s agent Ben Tebbutt at Box Property.  SPACE will be bringing forward further investment assets on behalf of the same prop-co in Notts, Leics and Northants in the coming weeks.

PLANS IN FOR OUTLET’S MAJOR JOB-CREATING EXPANSION

February 19, 2020

Building on the success and 15 years of consecutive growth, our client at Springfields Outlet announces plans for a major extension which will crate about 350 new jobs, 15 new stores and 3 restaurant/cafes.

Springfields Outlet is seeking permission from South Holland District Council to create about 15 new stores as well as three café / restaurant units.

The move comes after the outlet’s owner, Triton Property Fund, managed by UBS Asset Management, conducted a consultation last year.

The plans also include 236 additional parking spaces.

The improvements to Springfields Outlet are proposed on Camelgate, on the site of the NFU Mutual building and the car park next to Travelodge.

The NFU Mutual already has planning permission for new offices to be built on a new site next to Springfields.

If approved, the expansion will take the total number of people employed at the centre to about 1,000.

Ian Sanderson of SLR Outlets, who operate Springfields Outlet, said “Springfields has gone from strength to strength since opening over 15 years ago and I am proud that we can lead on this significant investment into Spalding.

“New high-quality retail and leisure space at Springfields Outlet will improve our offer to customers, cement our position as the leading shopping and leisure destination in the east of England, and create a large number of new jobs for local people.

Over many years, Springfields Outlet has invested heavily in new technology and innovative ways of advertising and promoting Springfields and the town.

“This planning application gives us a renewed opportunity to work with the council and traders to promote the town centre and a wider area”.

A decision is expected to be made by the council in the summer.
